Hi everybody (both of you),

It's me, Nick Mamatas. I'm a radical journalist and genre writer who publishes primarily in non-genre publications. My big-ass claim to fame so far is a little novella, Northern Gothic, which was nominated for, and lost rather miserably, the Bram Stoker Award in 2002. I've also sold short stories to the men's magazine Razor (it's like Maxim for guys who know how to read), Strange Horizons, Wide Angle (a mainstream monthly), Horrorfind, Talebones, the punk porn website Suicide Girls, and other nifty venues.

In my non-fiction life, I write somewhat regularly for the Village Voice, Razor again, Disinfo.com and the Disinformation Books anthologies, In These Times, and other magazines like that. I'm currently working on a piece about the whole "New Wave Fabulism" goofiness for The Believer

A number of these stories and essays will soon be collected in 3000 MPH In Every Direction At Once, one of the flagship titles of Prime Books' new imprint, Library Empyreal.

Here is my lame-ass website:

Here is my lame-ass online journal:

That's it for now. Drop me a line if you have something to say.

Welcome to the NS boards. I've already noticed your very interesting posts on the Ratbastard boards.

Oh crap, another forum for this guy!? Let me just grab a plate of dolmathes and spanikopita and watch the fireworks. I'll leave the stuffed goat guts for someone else.

Seriously, though, I look forward to seeing your next victim's public villification.

We've never met, but I never let that stop me, either.

Welcome to the shadowy portals of Night Shade.

Except being half blind, I read your publications list as including WIDE ANGEL. That's a curious image. And so unflattering!

China, why don't you stop lingering and set up shop here as well, Wunderkind?

That's turning out to be a great mag. Looking forward to reading the piece. Followed of course by part 2 on the "New Weird" goofiness.

Yes, you punk, I have Northern Gothic sitting on the table next to my comfy chair.

I mean, I haven't read it, but it's definitely sitting there. I mean, you got paid.

Mike: I still have some spare sign-up codes for LJ if you want to create an account so you can post non-anonymously there. Send me an email if you're interested. The offer's open to anyone else who wants one as well, until I run out.

JayC: Thanks for the invitation. I have a board over at TTA and the reason I gratefully declined the NS offer was because I was just never posting on my own board - so it seemed a waste. And then when I was posting I wasn't writing. Like now, dammit. See what you did?

(And Wunderkind? Love that, thank you... but haven't you heard? I am *way* old news.)

China, China, China -- we've had this conversation many a time, my man. And yeah, you should be writing. And no, you're not way old news yet, and you know it. Jesus, you're doing the whole Clarion gig in a couple of weeks, no? Warp some of the impressionables for us will you?

Aren't people who choose to go to Clarion more or less self-warping already?
