Rhys,

Just wanted to let you know that I finished Album Zutique last night, and nearly laughed myself hoarse with your second sunset story. Oh man, that was so much fun. It's hard to see the world in anything other than surreal puns after reading your fiction, man. So thanks.

I shall play a song in my cavaquinho to celebrate!

Best,

Thanks Jason and Luis!

I'm particularly fond of that story myself. It was inspired by seeing a line of foam out at sea (probably waves on a submerged sandbank) which was dead straight and looked just like a second (and closer) horizon!

It's time I started thinking about writing another 'Luis Rodrigues' story... But he does appear in a cameo role in a novella I've just written, together with many of the Night Shade Books crew... They are all sitting in a pub discussing literature and warming themselves in front of a hearth loaded with sunbeams...

Hello, Rhys.

I too come to praise "The Toes of the Sun" and "Eternal Sunset". And then there's "Ebercitas" and "Twentieth Century Chronoshock", and that's not to mention "The Darktree Wheel".

Have we ever spoken, Dr. Hughes? I don't think so. You wrote that glowing review of The Troika years back, and I never thanked you. Thanks for the glowing review, Rhys.

Can I send you a pamphlet of my comical line drawings? No, I can't, because I don't know your street address. Would you kindly help me out and divulge that info to stepanchapman@hotmail.com? I'd like that.

Thanks Stepan!

'The Toes of the Sun' is the second Don Entrerrosca story. The first was 'The Lute and the Lamp' which can be found in STORIES FROM A LOST ANTHOLOGY. It's time I started thinking about writing a third story in this sequence!

'Eternal Horizon' is the second Luis Rodrigues story. There are two other stories in this sequence but they haven't been published yet. The real Luis Rodrigues is well known to you all and needs no further explanation!

Yes, I remember writing my review for THE TROIKA. I had the pleasure of reading your book before it was published (I believe it was 1997 or 1998?) and I knew almost instantly that it was going to be a classic.

Isn't Ebercitas from the Disease Guide kind of a 3rd in the sequence? Maybe not directly, but does deal with some of the same things.

Stories from a Lost Anthology is great. It's some of the most strangely imaginative stuff I've read. I was inspired to get it after reading the stories from AZ.

Thanks Robert.

Funnily enough, I don't consider 'Ebercitas' or my other Thackery contribution to be a story... I don't know how I'd define it. Just as a sort of *piece* I guess -- or maybe a fake report!

Don Orejitas,

Thanks again for naming a character after my humble self, and making him the protagonist of no less than three stories!

Cheers,
Luís

Luís: I've now put you (and Jason Williams, Gabriel Mesa, Jeff Ford and many other Nightshade denizens) into my 'More Taller Stories' in a cameo role...

I hope to give you (and the others) more cameo roles soon. I don't know if this will provide any relief... [Poor jewellery joke]

Probably not.

Luís, I would put you in a poem, but that would be rather difficult!
