I've seen no other confirmation, but it doesn't look like a joke or mistake.

This just arrived in my email box from Tempest Bradford. The event is in NYC:
This Friday there will be an informal gathering at KGB bar at 7PM for people to come and drink and remember her books and stories and kindness and fierceness. Bring one of her books to give away or trade or loan or read from if you want. Bring your memories. Bring enough for at least one drink, since the folks at KGB are so nice to us.
What: Drowning our sorrows - in memory of Octavia Butler When: Friday, March 3, 7 - 9ish PM (feel free to drop by anytime)
Where: KGB bar 85 East 4th Street New York, NY 10003 http://www.kgbbar.com/
Pass it along to anyone who'd be interested and bring a friend.
