I deleted my account, so I can't post there anymore. So I shall rant here.

"Hey---I'm thinking of taking my son---I hear there is a nude scene...is it too nasty for a 13 year old (the nude scene, that is)."

The movie in question? Land of the Dead. LAND OF THE FUCKING DEAD. Let me see if I have this correctly:

Steaming piles of organs, the undead chowing down on screaming humans, death, destruction, and large amounts of viscera? Perfectly fine for a 13-year-old. The naked female body? No, too nasty. Not safe for a 13-year-old boy to look at. This truly is the twilight zone.

Sign o' the times, man. I'm as fucking revolted by the "violence good, human sexuality bad" idea as you are. But it shocks me less that others reverse the equation, to be honest.

Maybe I'm getting cynical in my old age...

All the best,

Nels.

More potentially offensive to the concerned parent of that post is a longer and even more completely gratuitous lesbian make-out scene which is not prefigured at all, but sprung suddenly, solely to be interrupted by zombies. It's as good, in its way, as the nightclub singer who gets smashed in the middle of her act during The War of the Gargantuas, as far as being a monster movie non sequitur. Worth taking your kids just for that alone.

Has any movie ever earned an "X" for pure violence?
