Well done, guys!

Congrats! It was nice to meet you finally, even though I was only there for a short while!

Congratulations all round, especially to Zoran who came through in what I thought was an exceptionally tough field. Sorry I missed the con (but I will be at FantasyCon to see if Joyce can pull off a repeat in the British Fantasy Awards).

Beer's on me, Jason and Jeremy! I bet I could buy four or five rounds of better beer than I could the other night in D.C.!

I just consider myself damn lucky (and honored) to have been at the table with all the Ministry / Night Shade folks on this occasion. The awards just wouldn't stop coming, and even those that were picked up by others at least went to well-deserving nominees. The judges did a fine, fine job this year.
Looks like the Lagavulin was well enjoyed. Allen Ruch and Mark Roberts and I managed to finish off the bottle in my room around 3 am or so....

Hear, hear! The entire room was beginning to list in the Ministry-Night Shade direction because of all those big heavy heads -- er, the awards, I mean! Congratulations to all!!

Congratulations guys. It was nice meeting you guys, and it was an honor to be at one of the two Nightshade/Ministry tables during the awards (with six statues between the two tables).

Many thanks, everyone. What a great con! Had a great time hanging out with you all, discussing things, learning from you, and partying. You all made it worth it!
And for those of you that made good-natured jokes about the trophy being firmly fixed to my hand for so long afterwards - my wrist hurts like hell, and I'm pretty sure it's from toting Lovecraft around for so long. I know: Cry me a river, build a bridge, and get over it. Oh well.
Again, thanks to everyone for their congrats and for a great time. I thought I was over the shock yesterday, but I still get intermittent waves of "Holy Crap! I won the friggin' World Fantasy Award."
I'm hoping some of you might go over to my board and post a con report or two (short or long, I don't care).
Posted on Monday, November 03, 2003 - 05:14 pm:
I'd also like to add my congrats to the other winners - all well-deserved.
PS: Few things are more terrifying than walking into a hotel room with four disembodied HP Lovecraft heads staring at you through pupil-less eyes. *Brrrrrr!!!*

Or, post con reports over here, on the general board, where more people will see them. Or links to con reports on blogs.

Not a real blog, but I've got a report for my one day at the con up at my site

Hey Devereaux--how did I miss you? I didn't see you all weekend!!!
Congratulations to everyone who won and kudos for you, Laura Anne and the other judges, who I think had their work cut out for them.

I was pretty easy to miss - I wasn't at the whole convention, just two hours in the dealers room, and then the awards dinner, and then a bit of haning out in the bar. Most of the time was spent with the Ministry/Nightshade/Prime people. I didn't vigoursly pursue anyone, mostly just waited until they wandered by me (thus missing meeting quite a few people).

Great Con report, Robert. By the way, I listened to your CD thrice on the way home from DC. Wonderful stuff, my expectations, fed by your sound samples, were well met. A really neat project, with such good music, artwork, readings, and the Shriek excerpt.

Hi Robert. I wish I'd had a chance to talk to you more at the banquet or after. You'll have to come to more of these things.
Posted on Wednesday, November 05, 2003 - 04:29 pm:
Forrest: Thanks. By the way, if you want to write up a few words, CDBaby allows you to submit reviews.
Robert: Maybe at some other con. I'm interested in hitting others, at least for the chance to meet and talk with people.
Posted on Thursday, November 06, 2003 - 09:11 am:
Done. Though CDBaby says they can take up to two weeks to get the review up.
Posted on Thursday, November 06, 2003 - 05:20 pm:
Thanks Forrest. I just checked and they're showing the review now. My first review, yay!

Congratulations to everyone involved with Leviathan 3 and Night Shade Books. It couldn't happen to a finer anthology or a nicer bunch of guys.
Posted on Friday, November 07, 2003 - 12:05 pm:
Ah, but Stepan, you are a good part of the reason it's such a fine anthology! Please, never, never stop writing!
