Cat Sparks here. I'm an Australian writer, illustrator and small press publisher. Robert Hood and I run Agog! Press, which has produced four anthologies of Australian speculative fiction and Daikaiju! Giant Monster Tales, which features a mix of stories from Australian, British and American authors.
We live in Wollongong -- a former steel town turned university town 88 kms south of Sydney.
Since 2001 I've published 30 short stories. I've won seven Ditmar awards, an Aurealis convenors award, I was a third place winner in 2004 Writers of the Future and a graduate of Clarion South, 2004.
Thanks to Jeff for offering me this space. Several of my buddies have Nightshade boards already – a big hello to Lee, KJ, Jack, Ellen, Trent, Jay, Geoff, Ben, Jonathan, Anna – and everyone else.
Check out my site, particularly the gallery if you're into photos. I've spent the last few years documenting Aussie SF authors and cons as well as my recent visit to the USA: www.catsparks.net
oh -- and by the way, blogs and message boards terrify me, although I'm not sure why...

That's a great site. When are you going to post your bibliography?
Don't be afraid. Relax. Let the soothing music lull you into topor...

Hey Cat! Welcome to the NS boards. Now we can discuss OZ SF in public <g>.

Hi Jonathan, glad to see the <g> after that suggestion... :-)
I'm so jealous of the Aussie contingent going to World Fantasy... yeah, I know, I just got back from the US -- thats why I want to hop over there again. I had a ball in Seattle & NYC. Take me with you -- surely I can squeeze into your suitcase???
|Posted on Sunday, September 18, 2005 - 11:26 pm: |
I have a spare suitcase I always carry inside the main one, so I can bring back books, and I will be passing through Sydney on the way to WFC... I would have thought you could have stowed away with Biancotti. Actually, is Rob the only one not going to the US this year? I know Terry's there right now.

Hiya, Cat! Glad to see you here. I come here every day, but rarely say anything. Sort of like Seattle. ^^;;

Yay, Cat has a message board! Rest assured it's not you: message boards and blogs are scary creatures.

Yes folks, its nice to have my very own message board -- now all I need is something to say!
Jonathan -- there is indeed a mass exodus of Aussies to the US this year. And to the UK. I think we're finally getting bored of our tiny little cons.

think of it as lowering yourself gently into a nice, relaxing aligator...

Ta Ben -- but what is it with you and alligators anyway? Still doing a bit of wildlife wrestling on the side??? or did you give all that up when you moved from Toowomba to the big smoke...

Phew! Thanks Jeff for de-spamming this page. I shall keep the spambots at bay from now on.
And yes Mr Payne, I did notice your piece of human induced spametic poetry nestled in there amongst all the other stuff. Didn't mean for that one to be wiped...

Sure. This is just like that time you "accidentally" deleted all my emails, changed your phone number and bought that wig, isn't it?

yes Ben, *exactly* the same...
