BLACK SHEEP is the title of my dystopian novel, which'll be released by Prime in the first half of next year. This'll probably be a bit skint for a while, till things start moving for good or ill on it, but it should be an experience anyhow.

About the book, it's set in a near future where races have been segregated into three types, African, Asian, and Caucasian. It starts when the narrator, Isao, immigrates to Australia with his family, where the punishment for being multicultural is Assimilation, a process where you're stripped of all your culture, your skin is turned alabaster, you forget your name, and you spend the rest of your life driving a taxi and cleaning streets for the government.

It's a cheery like all dystopian novels :-)

In case you're curious, it's going to be released in November, as part of the Prime offset program.

Don't mean to be dense, but what is an offset program?

it's the non POD stuff. means a print run, gets into places POD won't. that sort of thing, from my understanding.

(yeah, i had to ask as well when i first heard it)

cool!

i'm hoping people will dig it. if for nothing else, people need dystopian novels about race at the moment. and by need, you know i mean, 'because i wrote it.'

:-)

Amazon had it listed for March 21 and then there was a hint that it would be available on the 31 and...well these things happen.

i guess we'll see. i don't think it'll be getting any advance reviews, given how behind in the release date we are. so likely it'll be out for a couple of months before anything is said--if anything is said.

wow, look when that lost post was.

anyhow: according to wallace--my favourite phrase--BLACK SHEEP is available from the printer, so if you've ordered a copy, it'll be along. due to all the delays and chains canceling their orders and being unwilling to reorder, the print run of the book has been scrapped, and it's now pod.

this means the book is a lot harder to find. i'm sorry about that, but the decisions there have never been mine to make.

i'll post more as it comes along.

b.

Undoubtedly this has been a most unfortunate "learning" experience for you.

I don't want to tear down Sean but clearly for whatever reason(s) the book has not been delivered.

I've been waiting now for nearly a year and it seems to me that the publisher has been occupied with other projects.

Yours has been a black sheep.

yeah, pm, i really got nothing to say that'll justify the delays for you. i'm real sorry it happened to you and others who ordered it.

i know that, but i'm the public face of the book. there's no point in playing a blame game--what has happened happened.

but for people who have been waiting for it? the least i can do is apologise.
