I think I should go. I know I want to go, but I'm past that and on to the moment of thinking I need to go.

I guess first I need to check with work that I can get the time off. Plane tickets are a pretty good price right now, and I have offers of places to stay for rooms.

I should go, right?

You're going, Klima. If you don't, who'll be there to yell at us when we're trying to hide in a room and drink and smoke.

LOL! That's true! I can't stand idly by while people have fun! I need to be there to put the kibosh on it.

Yeah, go. I should organize a tour of my favorite Austin places, if they're still around, and if I can remember them (I left around 12 years ago and my memory left too).

I'll look you up if you go, John. Maybe even buy you a beverage of your choice...;)

OK, maybe it's the whiskey talking (or the wine, or...what the fuck am I drinking now? Who knows) but as long as I can get off work, I'm coming to Austin!

I heard the hotel was sold out. Any truth to this?

I have the good fortune of sharing a room with Minz. Or so he claimed a few weeks ago...

There's always a floor somewhere.

As Deanna Hoak points out, if you have hotel reservations for World Fantasy, don't cancel them. Find someone who is going so you can transfer the reservation. I would love a hotel transfer. I have hotel plans in place, but the rooms are crowded due to the main hotal being booked. If someone was unable to go, I would take the reservation from them.

The membership list has grown quite a bit in the last few weeks, but in looking it over carefully, it appears that maybe some of the pro/author names I expected to see on the list haven't shown up.

For example, John Crowley, Liz Hand, Michael Swanwick, Gardner Dozois, Jim Kelly, John Kessel, James Morrow... it seems that most of these guys are usually in attendance at Worldcon's, so I figured that World Fantasy would attract the same kind of crowd... is Austin just too far from either of the coasts to get a bigger draw?

Regardless, I'm really, really looking forward to meeting for the first time authors like Rick Bowes, Ted Chiang, Hal Duncan, Jeff Ford, Graham Joyce, Jay Lake, Paul Park, Jeff Vandermeer and Paul Witcover, and seeing old favorites again, Like Lucius, Tim Powers... and hopefully Gene Wolfe. Anyone know if he's going to be there?

Gardner Dozois never goes to World Fantasy. And rarely if ever do most of those other writers...
It's usually a very different crowd at WFC. There will likely be a whole host of UK editors there.

I'm pretty sure that Lucius actually won't be there.

He keeps going back and forth about it, but I think for now he says no.
