Someone broke into our apartment and stole my laptop and some misc. costume jewelry of Shai's. No one was home, and everyone is safe.
It's more annoying than anything.
If you've recently sent a submission in to me, please resend it. They were all on my laptop.
You'll understand if I don't get back to you right away.

Yuck. How horrible. Hope paradise grows around you again.

If you used the laptop for surfing the internet, you might want to change your passwords on your regular sites, just in case the burglar has some internet savvy (or unloads the computer on someone who does).

Yeah, I spent time last night and this morning changing the passwords to every website that I go that uses a password. (at least all the ones I could think of)
I did a backup two weeks ago, so I'm not too bad even from a data point of view. Just frustrating.

Pat yourself on the back for having backed up everything. It's probably small consolation, but just think of how much worse it would be if you hadn't saved everything.

I try to back up at least every month, and I'm not always good about that. I wish I had backed up my e-mail, but c'est la vie, like Gordon says, I'm better off than a lot of people would be. I'm filling out the insurance reports today. Stolen laptop, wireless card, and mouse. Not insubstantial, not the end of the world. The worst thing is that I bought the Macromedia Suite for a class this last fall and I can't locate the software anywhere in the house. I'll have to replace that...grrrr.
When my wife is done resting she'll have to fill out her portion for what she lost.
I actually had about half the submissions that were sent to me, but it doesn't hurt to get them again.

Oh, man, that's awful. We're sorry to hear it, though we're hearing late.
