OK, this is where I'm going to discuss the books I read in 2004. I had intended to read at least a book a week (a resolution I thought I could keep). I was doing well until September when I started grad school. In the last four months of the year I read about four books (three of them in December). In the previous 8 months, I read 36. I'll have the complete list up later tonight, but I wanted to get the thread started.

My list includes stuff from GRENDEL and LESS THAN ZERO to JONATHAN STRANGE & MR. NORRELL and HANDBOOK OF AMERICAN PRAYER.

So what did you read this last year?

My favorite books from this list include HANDBOOK OF AMERICAN PRAYER, CIRCUS OF THE GRAND DESIGN, MOVE UNDERGROUND, IN & OZ, ALTERED CARBON, and GIRL WITH THE PEARL EARRING. Most everything I enjoyed. There were a few things that were less than impressive, but there's so much more I want to read I can't dwell on them. I can't resolve to read a book a week this year since I know how much time school takes up. But I'll read what I can, if only there weren't so many good books out there that I haven't read!

Yes I know, there are two story collections on here that have not been published yet. But I read them, and one is set to come out next year (2006! sheesh!) from Golden Gryphon and the other is being shopped around. And I read them, because I was going to edit them but things fell through.
