Nothing yet, but thought I'd make the space for when I'd need it. Still getting reviews for #6, in fact there was a nice review in the Jan 05 issue of Asimov's, check out http://www.nightshadebooks.com/cgi-bin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=481&post=57241#POST57 241 if you're curious what it says.

I do have to thank Mr. Hatchell for his copious reading talents. Andy is a voracious short-fiction reader, and puts together a great list of the stuff he likes. From issue #7, Andy recommends Liz Willams "The Marsella" (which is also available in the limited of BANQUET OF THE LORDS OF NIGHT). [http://www.nightshadebooks.com/book.aspx?bookid=99]

Check here to see what else is on Andy's list:

I agree with Andy Hat as regards to "The Marsella": it was my favorite from EW #7, as well.

But, of course, in this case I'm biased (see the bottom of the "novelletes" list...)

Not really a review, but Jonathan Strahan has this to say:

"In the meantime, let me direct your attention to the estimable John Klima's latest issue of Electric Velocipede. I picked up issue 7 of the 'Pede in Boston and it features cool stories by Liz Williams, Christopher Rowe, Chris Roberson and Steve Nagy. I think it costs about the price of a cup of a coffee and a couple staples, so don't hesitate. It's a neat 'zine."

Thanks!

Still haven't seen any reviews of #7. Is it too early to be concerned? It's been about five-and-a-half months since the last one was sent out to the world. SFREVU did run this:

http://sfrevu.com/ISSUES/2004/Review-id.php?id=1945

Which is kind of weird since it's merely a listing of what's in the issue with no commentary about it. And the links don't seem to always work.

If anyone knows of places that do reviews that are looking for material, please e-mail me and I'll send a copy to them. I sent to all my normal places, but I haven't seen a thing. It makes me worried as I edit the next issue that no one seems to notice that this one came out. Am I publishing too fast, too slow?

Of course, as these things go, I'm riding home on the train looking through my most recent issue of Chronicle, when I notice in the "Short Cuts" section, Electric Velocipede #7 is reviewed. Here's a few snippets from the review:

"The word that comes to mind to best describe this issue of Electric Velocipede is 'startling'."

"Electric Velocipede continues to catch my attention, offering some great short fiction that defies casual description."

"It's a shame it's only bi-annual"

Not too bad. That's the only review I've seen to date. Anyone see any others out there?

Not so much a review as an endorsement, but Matt Cheney did mention EV in his 2004 roundup at Fantastic Metropolis:

"Good short stories appeared everywhere this year, though often not in the familiar places. The small presses produced some lovely work, and if you’re not reading such magazines as Lady Churchill’s Rosebud Wristlet and Alchemy and Flytrap and Say… and Electric Velocipede, then you’re missing some weird and wonderful writing. (Some dreck, too, but you get more predictable dreck from the well-known SF and fantasy markets, of which only Fantasy & Science Fiction was reliably good this year.)"
