Thought I'd start a thread for recording asinine comments made by the "analysts" on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2.

My favorites so far:

Dave O'Brien (the worst of the lot) announcing the second goal for Germany in their 4-2 win over Costa Rica:
"Germany up 2-0, and Miroslav Klose becomes the first man to ever score for the host nation in the opening game on his birthday."

Tommy Smyth, Togo vs. South Korea:
"Here we are, it's like deja vu all over again."

And my favorite to date, JP Dellacamera, Netherlands vs. S&M:
"Holland play a unique 4-4-2 formation in that they use 3 strikers."

The Best Yet
As heard during ESPN's coverage of Italy v Australia:

"And what a fantastic World Cup it's been - probably the best in a few years."

Pity he didn't say "the best in four years"!
