This should actually be under the 9 Layers thread but I wish to make a big huge deal of the fact that...

......the cover has come for 9 Layers of Sky and lo, it is gorgeous. And I don't have a scanner. But all those lucky people coming to Eastercon will be able to see it because I will be thrusting it under noses right, left and centre. It is dark, foreboding, and Slavic. It rocks.

Looming... yes, I always feel a sense of foreboding about an impending eastercon. All that drink!

See you tomorrow then.

You know, it does strike me sometimes, in defiance of conventional wisdom, that it is not absolutely obligatory to drink at cons - I spent a fairly abstemious one in Glasgow, eating properly (that nice Indian place, you'll recall), sleeping more than one hour a night, and drinking a moderate amount. I can't remember what brought on this behaviour but there must have been a reason. Perhaps I was ill.

Worldcon tends not to be too much of a drunken affair because it involves so much work. However, this weekend I have few commitments and so...

Well, there's always detox. Cons are more like retox.

Must keep the pickle ratio to an appropriate level.

Absolutely. But notions of appropriacy tend to become distorted by the con's generating field...

Though since I am about to go out and buy a bottle of summink in the whisky line, this might be a case of famous last words.

Oh, BTW, attempts to acquire a lab coat turn out to be a miserable failure. I have chatted up doctors galore to no avail and what I thought were cheap lab coats on sale in town were something else (OK, so we could all wear nurses' uniforms but I don't think my nerves, always fragile, could stand it).

I have standby garb which I have now packed. I have now just returned from a research tour of the Middle East.

OK, Dr Enigmatic, I shall see you tomorrow...Dr Williamson also...

I shall just have to rely on some emergency dominatrix-wear. And the funny thing is - nah, it can wait....
