I think it was in Science Fiction & Fantasy, or may Issac Assimov magazine..here goes:

A time traveller goes back in time to meet Jesus, he finds him, but JC is mentally handicapped and can't talk...the time traveller has to take his place, or it would affect Earth's timeline, even though he knows how it all ends for him...
if anyone knows the title and author, that would be great, I think I read it about 10 or 20 years ago...

There was another story I loved, and man climbs Mt. Olympus, which is very difficult, because the pathway up is like a maze or puzzle that keeps leading him down to the bottom, but finally he figures it out, and finds the 3 Muses at the top, while he's there they cut one of the threads, from where he is ont he mountain top he sees a passenger jet crash...if anyone knows the title and author, I'd appreciate it...

The first one sounds like Michael Moorcock's BEHOLD THE MAN, but probably isn't.

Presumably those were the 3 Fates, not muses...

There's a story I've been trying to find. I don't think it's that obscure, but no one's known yet--so maybe it is.

A single man is chosen to represent the vote for the United States. He alone gets to pick the President and Congress, because he's deemed "completely average" and representative of the American public.

I'm fairly sure I read it in an anthology of some sort. The story is older than the late 1980's, and possibly older than that.

Anyone know?

It's an Isaac Asimov story - if I'm not mistaken it's "Franchise" from the collection Earth Is Room Enough.

(I meant the Asimov story, but it's good to know the other one too.)

Hey Gordon,

Somebody posted this query in the F&SF board over on sff.net:

Two Hearts
From: Robotech_Master

I just heard about this new story, Two Hearts, by Peter S. Beagle, a
sequel of sorts to The Last Unicorn, that's going to be published in
F&SF this fall. Anyone have anything to say about that? :-)

Also, the first 3,000 people to order the audiobook of The Last
Unicorn (unabridged, read by Beagle) from http://www.conlanpress.com
will get a free autographed hardcover of Two Hearts. My order's in. :-)

Yes, it's true. Thanks for passing along the query. "Two Hearts" is the cover story for the Oct/Nov issue. It's not a direct sequel to The Last Unicorn, but it is set in the same world and has some familiar characters. Of everything I've read it in the last year, it's the one story that affected me the most.

Gordon,

That's great news. I'm looking forward to reading it. I really enjoyed Beagle's "Quarry" in last May's F&SF too, especially what he did with the ending. I see it was one of Gardner Dozois's Nebula recs as well.
