I am very much looking forward to Mel Gibon's new directorial project, the film "Apocalypto". It is described as a "unique adventure" set 500 years in the past. Like "The Passion", this entire film's dialog will not be in English, but in a now dead language Mel and Russell Crowe invented when they were fourteen years old.

The language, Maya, is composed of a mixture of pig-latin, baby-talk, and utter gibberish. Gibson will not act in the movie, but will cast from South American unknowns.

Gibson had this to say about the project; "Me untedway ootay shakie-wakie glooberjobber alestay ruffim-tuffim genre."

Yucatec Maya is not a dead language. It's currently spoken by between 750 thousand and a million people.
