A friend sent me this message. Taking a look at all the football-related stuff on Lucius Shepard's messageboard, and not wanting to impose on his space, I decided to put the item here. It sounds like a good idea to me:
"Check out this website! Campbells has started a campaign to help fight hunger, along with the NFL. If you go to their website, www.chunky.com and click on Tackling Hunger. Then click on the 3rd option, Click for Cans. There, you click on the helmet of your favorite NFL team---Campbell's is donating a can of soup for every click they get, to shelters all across the nation, paid for by the NFL. Its very cool! They're shooting to get up to 5 million cans of soup donated to help feed our hungry. Once you click, you'll just need to type in a code to make sure your click is valid -- they allow only one a day, so remember to keep going back.
"Pass this on! It's nice to finally get one of these that is real."
I've clicked, and apparently the site is indeed legitimate.

They've been doing this for four or five years now. They also take players from each team and donate their weight in cans times 10 to feed the homeless. Of course, the teams very smartly send their heaviest players so that the most food can be donated. It's a great project and very easy for people to participate.
Vote every day!

BTW, the Packers (who lead as of this morning) have won every year since this program was instituted. While I hope my team wins again, the cause is more important than who wins.

I'll second that last comment of John's. The Falcons, by the way, rank second or third from the bottom of all NFL teams in this poll, but what can you expect of a franchise that has NEVER had two winning seasons in a row, despite getting to the Super Bowl three or four years back.
