I got word over the Fourth of July holiday that my paranormal romance, Heart's Revenge, sold to Five Star Books, for their Expressions line!
I first started this book on a dare from my wife, who wanted me to write a romance set somewhere exotic, so I had it take place in Ocracoke, on North Carolina's Outer Banks. I tried writing it in a month for NaNoWriMo in November 2002, fizzled out, then wrote the rest of it for the April Dare (see the related topic above).
After a bunch of revising and a complete overhaul of my opening chapters (a common theme with my novels), I sent it off to John Helfers at Five Star, and it has become my first novel accepted for publication.
Look for it in June 2006, under the pen name of Julia C. Porter.

Here's a link to the first part of the Dare where I -- along with lots of other writers -- worked on the draft of a novel.
Interesting to see the process in action, eh?

Good for you, Mike.
I'm not normally a romance reader, but save me a copy. I'll buy one.

Dear lady novelist,
Congratulations! I shall have to buy a big box of titanium chocolates in preparation for reading your paranormal romance.

Just dropped my signed contracts in the mail to Tekno Books.
And I'm already thinking about how to spend my advance... ;)
