Hey Lucius

I just finished reading FLOATER and it's a real ball-tearer - a terrific piece of work. I know it's going to be described as short fiction or as a short novel, but it seemed to me that it was just as much a genuine novel as any 900 page tome, it was just shorter, punchier and more to the point. Many congrats to you (and to Nick and Pete at PS) for another wonderful book.

Best
J

Hey, thanks, Jonathan....I guess you got a galley, huh? Oops. Dumb question. I'm still signing the signature pages. But anyway, there's one other difference between FLOATER and those 900 pagers -- I didn't get paid as much. :-)

Once again, thanks for the kind words and I'm gratified you liked it.

These initials, AF, seem to be following me around. You're not the cuzzin of the AFQ who was on the flame me thread, are ya?

Lucius: So you got the box of signature sheets? That box must be really fucked up by now cause it was on its last legs when I sent it out.

Best,

Jeff

Um, lemme see now...I don't think I have a cuzzin by that name, but I'm occasionally mistaken about the span of my family tree.

Hey, Jeff...Yeah, I got 'em, man. What did you do? :-) It looks like folks been dancing atop it. I think I may have to restructure. But since Pete's gone until the 16th, I got time.

AF... Okay. Um. It must be a friend (or a distant relation) of Bear. You just hold onto your knees. I'll get you a legible signature.

It means, how shall I say this? "Watch out for the dragon and especially the gator."

Comprendo?

The shrike is flying, but the penguin roosts in the parchment. Have the package squinched, and watch for hogs.

The penguin has left the ocean and walks on a wooden leg. Watch out when the owls waltz at noon.

The pellet with the poison's in the chalice with the palace. The flagon with the dragon holds the brew that is true.

Enough threadjacking:

Is there a US edition or reprint of "Floater" on the horizon?

Actually, no, Mark. This'll probably do it. I'll have to ask my agent. But if so, it'll be way down the road.

No US edition, but you can certainly get the PS edition directly from ps (pspublishing.co.uk I think), or from any of various online retailers such as Amazon UK, Clarkesworld, Shocklines and so forth. Some of them have lower prices than others, so check around.

Great to hear that the signature pages are done. I'm really looking forward to reading this one!

Neil,

now all we have to do is to wait for Pete C. to return from wandering the chip and dales of Dorset, so he can kick it out of the warehouse.... :-)
