Well, I have a story in Datlow's YA antho, The Flock. I have a novella in a Nick Gevers antho, Dog-Eared Paperback of My Life. The rewrite of Viator from NS. There'll be more. I have a story with playboy they've had for two years. Maybe they'll print it soon. A novella with Asimov's, the 93rd Immaculate. I can't remenber all of it right now. I know there's another story or two.

will Beautiful Blood be out this year as well.

A couple of things you have mentioned here and there, a story or novel based around a lamp someone sent you as well as a story set in spain about strange architecture, just out of curiosity how are those things panning out.

Thanks

I can undestand if you don't have time but are you able to give another update on the short fiction that will be upcoming this year ( I don't pay much attention to the short field as much anymore save F&SF and Black Static) so an update will be helpful.

Thanks.

You know I don't even remember what's out this year. Not that much, I don't think. A lot of short fiction next year. however, including major novellas in F&SF and Asimov's...

I just noticed you won the Shirley Jackson award for best novella (for 'Vacancy'), Lucius. Congratulations!
I'm off to read it now on the Subterranean Press website.

Hey Lucius,

What's the title of your contribution to Ellen Datlow's POE anthology (or did I misread some advance publication notice and only think I saw your name)?

I see you've got a story in the upcoming Jack Vance tribute. I'm looking forward to that book.
I also saw you contributed something to some kind of French book of short stories and art based on themes by Lovecraft. Based on an Exhibition of Unspeakable Things at a French science fiction museum? Looks like it was a program for the exhibit, but it seems hard to find. They have it at some French bookstores, but I don't see it anywhere in the U.S.

That's my friend Patrick Gyger's museum in Yverdon des Bains here in switzerland. It's absolutely a great fucking museum. I just did a short two, three hundred word thing they stuck under some painting. So did Jeff Ford and some others.

I was happy with my Vance story until they made me lose the ambiguity. I guess it's all right. There probably are some better stories in the book.

Yeah, I read a review of the Lovecraft book in Fortean Times. They said you could buy the book at the website, but it just directs you to a few European book shops.
That museum looks like a cool place. Here's a link to the page for the Lovecraft exhibit for anyone interested:

Right now they're running an exhibit on polar zeppelin and balloon expeditions. Really cool stuff, And for each expedition they put out a book. My favorite is the book they did for an exhibition of outsider art. It's tough to describe, but the book tself is outsider art.

The folks at Subterranean Press announce THE BEST OF LS will soon be ready to ship.
The trade edition, that is.
For the limited, they're waiting for slipcases and it may take a few months.
WHAT THE FUCK?

Bill says there was a manufacturing problem with the slipcases and they're going to be slow. The books are done and they'll be shipping as soon as the case hit their door. Sorry.

Grumble. Must get a new set of teeth to gnash.
Still, I do know the books will be worth the wait (and congrats for the World Fantasy Award nominations, BTW).

From the Subterranean Press website:
"We also have another Shepard book under contract, Vacancy & Ariel, which will gather two uncollected novellas, bound back to back, Ace Double style. Look for us to announce that one soon."
Yeah!
JD
PS: "Ace Double style", heh? What about TWO garish covers in the Emsh/Freas/Gaughan style?

I'm not sure how many people here listen to the StarShipSofa podcast, but the most recent one has a reading of Lucius's story "Senor Voltro." It's always nice to hear readings of good short stories

Starship sofa is going to do Larissa Miusov as well.

Speaking of which, Viator the rewrite, is going to be published next year by PS publishing as the lead of a new collection. The rewrite of Viator is some 20000 words longer and much better... the stories will include Larissa Miusov, The Emperor, The Ease with Which We Freed the Beast, Carlos Manson Lives, handsome, windsome johnny etc.

Somebody should do a movie of Viator. They could do something cool with the sound design on the ship. Use creepy textural ambience to add to the weird scenes on the ship's walls.

I hope Ghost Ship didn't ruin the chances of having another movie about weird stuff on a wrecked ship in Alaska.

Is this the first acknowledgement that "Sally Carteret" is a pseudonym of Mr. Shepard? Carlos Manson and Handsome, Winsome Johnny were both published in the Polyphony series as by Carteret.
