Naw, lived there some twenty-five years ago (when I was nine or so) but moved up to Pennsyltucky after three years and now live in Jersey. Caught me some Sciano fever and nearly had a Hart attack. (It's the weakest organ.) But like all viruses, plenty of rest, plenty of liquids and some time and it'll fade.

Though, oddly, I picked every Texas team to win.

We interrupt this thread to report that former Packers and BC OC Jeff Jagodzinski has been hired to replace Tom O'Brien as Eagles head coach.

Interesting (and kind of pathetic) thing about the job is that at BC it is actually endowed like a professorship, the Gregory Barber and Family Head Football Coach.

I'd talk trash, but the Eagles' corners are undersized and Romo's looking awful good. But really, Owens is a p****. He always tiptoes out of bounds instead of squaring his shoulders, even when he was with Philly. Now, if Garcia could play safety, show Owens how a duck hits...

Here's what Jim Buzinski says (taken from http://www.outsports.com/nfl/2004/0812garciaowens.htm):

"Owens should be the last guy inferring that someone is gay. He fits several gay stereotypes: Hes single and flamboyant and totally obsessed with his body. He loves parading around during practice clad in form-hugging lycra warmup clothes even in the coldest of weather. He also did the gayest thing I ever saw on a football field when he shook pom-poms after scoring a touchdown in 2002. I wished the Playboy writer had asked Owens if he ever went on the down-low."

Rule of thumb: always bet against a fat coach with a weak quarterback: Weiss, Mangini, even Reid. The combination will always inflate the team's value, and then, bam!, they tank and you win.

Posted on Monday, December 25, 2006 - 09:18 am:

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house,
not a creature was stirring, nor using a mouse,
for all eyes were on Brennan leading the charge
a comeback victory that loomed quite large.

Spreading holiday cheer for those who were wise
enough to pick the Rainbow Warriors, regardless of size.
And mamma in Badger gear, Daddy dressed for the Pack,
had just settled down for a little cheese and mac.

When out on the internet there arose a bronx cheer
from the Fords, Jeff and Lynn, who clearly needed some beer.
For they foolishly chose the Sun Devils to win
and for that their shame nearly bordered on sin.

For the Rainbow Warriors were playing at home,
in the heat and humidity, and without a dome.
No desert team could come in and win this game
and for that these two clearly felt shame.

Then Minz did finally note, despite the big win,
he's still behind Jeff, though remained ahead of Lynn.
So perhaps the smacktalk he should abandon right now
before the Nightshaders all have a cow.

So I sprang from the Mac, to the mantle I went
to load up Rachel's stocking 'til it nearly was rent.
Then on to the oven, to load the bird that I'll carve,
"Happy Christmas to all, and let's hear it for Favre!"

Though rude, I think a line or two would have appropriate cum sa:

Ye olde New Jersey must be teeming with dolts,
for who in their right mind would pick against Colt

And I know you wrote that whole thing just to get in the line about Farve.

I notice that many people have laid a lot of points on Central Mich, including myself (it's my thirty-two point game). I don't I would have been so profligate if I'd known their coach had left for another job. Here's hoping we don't all look like dolts.

Owens the wideout
Had a very slippery grip
With an 8 and a 1 and TDs merely one
Six mil was a gyp.

Garcia the q-b
Was a fairy tale they say (1)
He wore the green and made Dallas seem
Like a high school team today.

There must have been some magic
In those green hats they wore
For when they put them on their heads
Correll, Schobel and Akers earned a score.

Oh, Barber the r-b
Got his sad ass buried
With a mere yards three against a solid D
It took him six carries.

Owens the wideout
Knew Garcia was hot that day
So he saw Westbrook run and receivers catch a ton
While the 'Boys faded away.

Down to the Red Zone
With the football in their hands
Rushing here and there all around D. Ware
Saying tackle me if you can.

The 'Boys fell down all over the ground
Beside the O-line.
And they only paused a moment
To laugh when they heard them whine.

Oh, Owens the wideout
Had to hurry on his way
But we waved goodboye saying, "Go ahead and cry,
"We put you on your back today."

Thumpety-thump-thump, thumpety-thump-thump...

1) Not to knock Garcia or gays, but I couldn't resist the pun.

Hey, so the green midgets won, what do I care?
We all know the Iggles ain't going nowhere.

When mcnabb goes down next year, as surely he will,
there'll be no jerri garcia to cure y'all's ills.

The 'boys are a team of the future, they'll be winning for years,
while the Philly fanatics will be drowning their tears.

What better fate, I ask you, could await
the creeps in the city of Brotherly Hate?

Enough of this poetry! It's really the pits!
Like a cheese steak sandwich, it'll give you the shits.

Tonight's CMU Qb, Dan LeFevour is somebody to watch tonight -- he might be the next great MAC QB. He's come a long way since the opener vs BC, a game CMU narrowly lost. I watched the MAC title game, and he was outstanding. You're not going to see another Colt Brennan performance. This is a true freshman and CMU runs a much more balanced offense than Hawaii. But he is very good.

The play kind of fell apart in the 4th quarter for CMU. Did I hear right, their qb is a freshman? He might end up being pretty good by the time he moves on. On another note, I almost had to turn the sound off due to the unbounded driveling douchery of the announcers.

Announcer pollution is a characteristic of 21st century football. CMU got out of rhythm because they were sitting on the sidelines for so long. And yup, LeFevour is a freshman and should be a great one...

34-10, now. It's cool. But it shows the foolishness of the bowl system. A 16th-ranked, 10-2 team against an unranked 7-5 team. Why not play Houston, Navy, Texas, Auburn -- you get the idea.

Texas Tech is on the NFL Network. Playoffs would be good. But if you're stuck with the BCS, then rank to 26, have 1 and 2 play each other, 3 and 4, and so forth. And eliminate the coach's poll. Coaches don't watch every game.

Funny thing my wife pointed out: the NFL Network is free through Dec 30, 8 PM, which is entirely coincidental with the Giants-Redskins game. Now, if you're in between Philly and New York, like me, you get both sets of stations, and the game'll be on NBC. But if you're only in the New York area, that NBC won't be showing the game. Nice, huh?

Sure there's a problem, but that's likely the mostteams you're gonna have. Football can't have a long playoff. An eight team playoff would last three weeks and that's the most we're gonna have.

Thanks, but I can afford to miss the whats-it bowl, I guess. Minnesota was really a bad team.
