talk about ignominy. Ga Tech-Miami is not on TV next weekend.

Pitt and Bama get a bye? Is that right?

Wisconsis prepare for their upcoming game against the juggernaut that is Buffalo by meeting NW.

Texas-Texas Tech might be interesting.

Fla-Ga...yeah...

Um. WI plays Illinois.

Pitt and Bama do have a bye each, yes.

I don't see why FL shouldn't beat GA.

And my cougars have been quietly carving a new hole into the MWC. I look at their season and they are one TD, one extra point, and one two point conversion away from undefeated. Quite an accomplishment, considering how badly Crowton had run them into the ground before he left.

Tennessee-South Carolina could be interesting, I love to see Spurrier knock off the Vols twice in a row. It's a home game, so he might pull it off, but it's a long shot.

Florida should beat UGA, but it's a huge rivalry game and weird things happen. That's why.

Lucius, in basketball news I see that Florida and Bama take 5 of the 8 First Team slots in the Coaches Preseason All SEC. Yeah, I know, we're a ways off from b-ball season.

Aha! Miami Ga Tech is on regional ABC. Mmmm. Too bad.

There is some light in the Miami gloom. True freshmen Javarris James (the Edge's cousin) and wr Sam Shields are both going to be bigtime players. And the early recruiting rankings have Miami pretty high, amazingly enough...

I knew you'd want to know. :-)

Now Charlie Weiss is whining about the polls...can a human being be more disgusting? As if ND doesn't get the benefit of every doubt and is consistently overrated.

He's complaining that both Fla and Tennessee jumped ND in the polls, Florida while not playing and UT while winning close over Bama...similar to ND's close win over UCLA. Be it said that Bama's tougher than UCLA and a rival, that Fla's loss was close to Auburn on the road, not a blowout at home, but Weiss is overlooking the fact that ND have been pampered by the polls for decades.

People are calling Weiss human? They should be slapped.

Speaking of slapping, looking forward to WI/IL. Though I have to say that Zook's boys might be good . . . next year. I don't understand how you can recruit that much talent and still not win. He's got a magic touch.

I think the Hokies were ticked off and finally cracked.

You know, Lucius, Miami really doesn't look that bad. No, they don't look like themselves, but they don't look awful, by any means.

Does anyone except ESPN think the Texas Tech/Texas thing is going to be anything other than a Longhorn demonstration of dominance? A bunch of people are looking for the upset, but I just don't see it.

And, if you're feeling immature and want a cheap and dirty giggle or two:

Larry Coker signed his death warrant today with his foolish decision not to challenge a ruling that overturned a clear Miami int and cost the Canes a win. Unbelievably incompetent. At least now it's over, and at least we don't have to worry about USC. The national championship game will likely be played in Columbus on November 18.

TT is surprising.

How about those Beavers? Huh-huh.

The Badgers got a slow start, to say the least. Illinois gives us fits every year, I just don't get it. We've much more talent than them.

Scar finally gets on the board. I thought they'd play the vols harder. The Gamecocks look a lot better than the purina boys. Here's to hoping . . .

Mich State has completely melted. I thought they would be good this year. My bad.

No I think it'll be the Hoopies v the winnner of Mich-OSU. USC losing blows any hope ND had, because they'll be ranked lower than ND when they play.

The Illini were just toughening you up for Buffalo.

The Spurriers are playing better now.

Tough pick, but I like WVA as well.

Any chance the purina dog chow endzone boys make it to the SEC championship? They're looking pretty tough, though they kind of blew against Spurrier's boys. LSU's got the line, but I think the vols might pull it off (as much as I hate them). I can't figure TN out this year, but they keep winning.

LSU escapes by the skin of their teeth.

Also, from an article from Fort Myers News-Press:

"Coker said the losses and criticism are taking a toll on him. Reports are indicating Miami president Donna Shalala will make the decision and that she has an interest in hiring former Wisconsin coach Barry Alvarez".

Again, I don't think that Alvarez will take the job, just that it's a possibility.

Um . . . sure . . . vols, yeah . . .

The Badgers just got a committment form a former MSU recruit, by the way. Four star athlete, plays safety, should see playing time quickly next year when we graduate our starting safeties. He looks like a great get. This may turn out to be Wisconsin's best recruiting class ever, esp. if we can lock down John Clay.

And as for this year, Iowa worries me with Stocco out. Donovan is NOT a great QB. Our defense is going to have to win this game.

Well, well, well, BADgers are sitting with one loss to the #2 team in the country (a team they were beating at halftime), and still we're stuck behind jokes with 2 losses. SEC can kiss my grits...

Heck we went on the road and won without our starting QB against a pretty good team. And still not top ten.

Of course, I'll at least remind you folks that I picked Rutgers at the start of the season. I'm jus' sayin'...

Hands up who besides the BCS rankings committee really believes that Boise State could come within two TDs of Texas, Auburn, Cal, Tennessee, Wake, etc.

If OSU loses to Michigan and ND beats Southern Cal, the Irish would probably play for the national championship. Who woulda thunk?

Hey, here's a dumb idea...If it comes down to ranking one-loss teams, why not rate them by the final ranking of the team they lost to? But then you'd have to rank one-loss Arkansas ahead of one-loss USC, even though USC beat Arkansas 50-14!

Man, looks like there is no way to avert barroom arguments this year.

"ND beats Southern Cal" - let's hope not. Actually, I'd love for the BADgers to play the domers - give 'em a good whippin'.

I'm kind of hoping MI puts the stick to the Buckeyes in a big way. *Then* where do you rank the BADgers (assuming they beat Buffalo)?

Well, sure, Forrest, the Spudsters' bandwagon is looking like a pretty comfortable place to be after the righteous 23-20 thumping they handed perennial powerhouse San Jose State... Who wouldn't project Boise as world-beaters? What chance would a recent top ten team with a Heisman frontrunner or a likely ACC champion have against their firepower? :-)
