The two biggest games this weekend are Ohio State-Iowa and Ga Tech-Va Tech. Florida-Bama should be competitive, For a while. The rest of the games fall into the Strike Me Down, Jesus, Lest I Watch This category, except for afficionados of blow-outs.

The Horns play Sam Houston State. They were a last minute addition to the schedule when the NCAA announced they were adding a 12th game. Typically, we avoid the K State method of scheduling for championships and avoid the 1AA schools.

This game is so lopsided, it's not even being shown on local TV. It's pay per view!

Floribama. Believe it or not, Lucius, after a couple days to let it sink in, I feel better about the Tide's chances against one or two of the juggernauts upcoming -- Fla, Tenn (okay, less than a juggernaut), LSU, Auburn. We're a bit better than I thought. At least we'll be in the games. For a while as you say.:-)

I think 23 - 10 is about right. Yeah, I agree about Tenn. Fla should have won that game by three tds.

Should be interesting.

Who's Wisconsin play this week? Priscilla Tech? Bagpipe University? A pick-up team from the west side of Wausau? :-)

No. I don't think it's worth the 25 bucks to see the mauling. I'll probably listen for a while on the radio.

Not worth the bucks? Are you kidding me? Wisconsin makes a living playing teams like this? :-)

So, we gonna wager a drink of choice on this year's Floribama, straight up? You owe me one (or is it two?) at this point -- chance to break even.

Yeah, right. It'll arrive that way on the banks of the Coco river, there to chomped by a horde of happy gators.

Did you catch the Spurriers last night? They played real hard and came pretty close to Auburn. Gives me hope for Florida, but more than that, it reminds me that on any given Saturday, Spurrier can take his and beat your'n or take your'n and beat his. Right now he's got the third best recruiting class in the nation for next year, including a big time QB prospect Mike Garcia. Watch out, SEC.

At tonight's Miami game, three airplanes will fly over the Orange Bowl with signs saying Fire Larry Coker. Coker's probably a decent man, but still, it's about fucking time. The next four game for the U are Houston, Duke, Wake and one other weak sister (we call this the Wisconsin portion of the schedule). If Coker loses one of these, he may not make it out of town.

Didn't catch the Aub-SC game, but agreed about Spurrier. He's going to be tough to tangle with (again).

Hasta luego, Coker. (Not that you'll lost any of those three games.)

It was surprisingly a good game. Only a wide-open drop of a certain TD pass kept it from being a tie, and SC could easily have won as they were stopped on 4th down deep in Auburn territitory and on an end zone int.

I think I'm actually going to play this weekend. Ga Tech +10 vs Va Tech is what stands out to me. Thoughts?

Is it an away game for Va Tech? If so, I like it. If not, I don't like it so much.

I haven't even looked at the lines, so I don't know what I like.

Well...I'd think about it. Reggie Ball's completing less than half his passes. And playing defense all day without the crowd behind you...

Watching the future Miami coach's team play. Rutgers at UCF. They haven't scored much, but you can see he's got a coherent offensive system and they're really controlling the ball.

And I should note that Wisconsin, playing the giants of the division (witness this week's game against Ms. Milliken's Finishing School) is currently ranked 34th by USA today, tied with Miami, who couldn't beat their sisters. Looks like that schedule's really paying off. :-)

There are rumors about Alvarez and Miami . . . sordid rumors.

I, for one, don't believe them.

Yeah, right. That's what Miami needs, another old man with a vanilla offense.

So who're you playin' this week, the Girls from Baywatch?

Darren, yeah well, I can't say too bad, but take it out the warp eagles...... ;)

Trip good, but too much work...

You know my feelings on this. He'd be an improvement.

We've got our eye on Glenn Chiano of Rutgers. He's got a Miami connection and he knows how to coach.

But I 'preciate your suggestion. ;)

Football news? Anybody?

Darren, you gonna watch the Mighty Gators-LSU? Want to give me a report on that and Gators-Auburn the following week. Better yet, does anybody feel spunky enough to make a tape of those games for me? I will bless your firstborn and do you many favors!

Gators, at home, getting little respect out of the oddsmakers. +2. I kind of like them, though. The way they pulled out the close one against Tenn. Meyer and staff's ability to make the halftime adjustments...

None taken. They wore us down with strength and experience and made some very good adjustments at halftime. Agreed, they looked strong.

It's going to be tough, but they may just get through this stretch. Auburn's shown some vulnerability. Georgia certainly has. Of course Florida's likely going to have to play Auburn or LSU twice. It'll be interesting to see who comes out of this SEC.

Thanks, Darren. Much appreciated. If they lose both games, as they very welll may do, you can forget mailing it. :-) I think the Georgia-Fla game will decide the east.
