Battle of the British heavyweights: who would win -- Konga or Gorgo? Konga has a definite advantage in reach, but Gorgo has a far tougher chin.

(The above is posted as a personal favor to Lucius, who was unable to attend this year's ArmadilloCon and thus missed the pugilistic panel, "Monkeys versus Dinosaurs.")

Oh, yeah! Gorgo by first round KO... unless disqualified for biting off Konga's face.

LOL!

Hey--so do we all go buy the Showtime Friday pay per view featuring a bunch of shitty heavyweights, hoping their shitty-ness is at least evenly matched or do we all go out drinking instead?

We prefer to clean the toilet bowl, I can't think of any reason to buy this, or any heavweight fight for that matter. Thankfully I won't be tempted by Rahman-Klitschko because i'll be out of the country...

Ah yeah. And you know what's really stupid. I checked and they've instead got me down to watch Erotic Women Wrestling #7 tomorrow night on PPV. Jesus Christ! If regular pro wrestling is fixed, I'm sure this will be too. Dammit. Now I gotta call them to get that taken off.

Ann's laughing her ass off.

This showed up on my boxing board under the heading, Night Of The Living Dead:

Heavyweight contender Shannon Briggs (43-4-1, 37 KOs) scored a sudden seventh round knockout over Ray Mercer (34-6-1, 25 KOs) Friday night at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Hollywood, Florida. Briggs cracked Mercer with several hard right hands on the ropes and Mercer went down on his back for the full count. Before Briggs lowered the boom, the fight had been a tactical battle consisting mainly of jabs

Sounds thrilling.

Most satisfying. What a hook! Just a beatdown. I have to admit that I don't like Corrales Usually I can separate an athlete from his private life, but a man who beats up his 95 pound 8-months pregnant wife, throws her down a flight of stairs, then says, You don't know what was going on....I can't put that aside. Corrales fights out a deep inner insecuriy, a fear. He wasn't ready for Castillo, and I doubt he'll ever be ready for him again. Castillo by KO in the rematch, If he's got a brain in his head, Corrales should fight somebody else.

Come on, Lucius! Castillo totally got over on Marc Ratner with all that weigh-in nonsense. Castillo was drained from making weight and Castillo was mucking around, with his doctor sticking his foot under the scale. Castillo fought well, but he bought himself an edge, regardless of what you think of Corrales. It's no wonder Castillo was bullying the guy all over the ring. I lost a lot of respect for J-L on Sat.

Come on, whatever Castillo did, I stand by what I said. Castillo has a deep insecurity. He'll never bear Castillo again--I don't tthink he really believes he beat him the first time. He's a coward, and coward's don't ever totally believe in themselves. You lost respect for JL? How do you feel about wifebeaters?

Hey, I accept that Diego is a creep. I won't contest your observation about his character. I would never stand up in front of my fellow citizens and vouch for Diego's character. At least (and perhaps at most) he comported himself on fight night as a professional, which is more than I can say for anybody in JL's camp. People went way out of their way to accuse DC of cheating the first time, and these same folks are quiet as churchmice now. Let's be honest about it. JL pulled a fast one, whatever you may think of DC. I guess it ain't cheating if you get away with it.

Posted on Tuesday, October 11, 2005 - 06:02 pm:

Yeah, he cheated, but that doesn't change the fact that I think Corrales lost the fight in the dressing room. I think weight-fudging has become more or less the rule in boxing, and that's one reason I'm watching less and less boxing and more MMA. In MMA you don't have as many mismatches, the fighters are always in amazing shape, the refs are young and fit. Some of the fights are incredible. Boxing, sas to say, is self-destructing.

Lacy-Pemberton and Marquez-Mabuza this weekend.

Saw a star in the making at bantamweight, Jhony Gonzales ko Vorapin for the WBO belt last weekend. Tall rangy guy with power. He and Marquez would be interesting.
