During the construction of the Bush thread, I started thinking about this one -- do you have any non PC songs you favor or hate? Rock and roll, for all its anti-establishment air, has produced relatively few...or so it seems.

I'll start with the grand champeen:

Dachau Blues by Captain Beefheart
Fuck the Nineties by Tall Dwarf
You Got the Handle by the Mighty Diamonds
(includes the lines "you got the handle, baby/I got the blade/don't you give me no trouble or/you'll need first aid...."

I stumbled across The Frogs' "My Daughter the Broad" yesterday on Amazon, and listened to a bunch of 10 second snippets off their various albums. I wouldn't be surprised to find some non-PC classics here. None of them sounded at all PC, actually.

I would also nominate Kill The Poor by the DKs.

The Crippled Children Suck EP by the Meatmen

We've Got Drugs by the Frogs

F*** Christmas by Fear

Let's Start a War by Fear

I Wanna Be Black by Lou Reed

Backstreet Girl by the Rolling Stones

Stray Cat Blues by the Rolling Stones

My wife still gives me a hard time whenever I play Johnny Cash's "Delia's Gone".

(First time I shot her / I shot her in the side / Hard to watch her suffer / But with the second shot she died / So if your woman's devilish / You can let her run / Or you can bring her down and do her / Like Delia got done...)

Great song, though. And as I often point out, the killer does get his comeuppance.

(But jailer, oh jailer / Jailer, I can't sleep / 'Cause all around my bedside I hear the patter of Delia's feet...)

Diane by Husker Du

Don't know the name of the song, but on an early Siouxee album she had a song with a lyric about "too many Jews" that she took a lot of heat for

Cop Killer, by Body Count

I sent Lucius a link to the lyrics of "Baby Greaser George" by the Frogs. That's just the first one I found. Here are some other titles: "God is Gay" and "Grandma's Sitting in a Corner with a Penis in Her Hand Saying No, No, No..." I think there are a lot of bands who do stuff like this and (if they're lucky) have a minuscule cult following but are never heard of outside of that. I'm not sure these are really non-PC, so much as deliberately odd. They're in the grand tradition of novelty songs rather than nonconformist rock.

Delia's gone is a classic murder ballad, Gabe. You should tell your wife to blame our founding fathers for that one.

Gene Vincent -- Woman Love, the grandaddy of them all.

"I'm looking for a woman with a one track mind/a'fuckin' and a'feeling all the time..."

Ruint old Gene's career

The Founding Revolutionaries of Gay Supremacy, or, to the uninitiated, the FROGS, were pretty special. I had a chance to see them at the old Ground Zero club in Cambridge, MA back in the late 80s.

How about Jordan, Minnesota by Big Black, the only song I know of about a pedophilic cult?

A song isn't non-PC just because it's about something non-PC. It has espouse a non-PC attitude.

Ok, what about Zappa? Wasn't he the very definition of non-PC? So, I'll nominate "Catholic Girls," "Jewish Princess," and "Bobby Brown Goes Down," (the latter two being off the wonderful Sheik Yebouti).

Yeah, Zappa...which leads me to a Beefheart collaboration with Zappa, "Hot Rats."

Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll, Ian Dury and the Blockheads. Title has suffered from excessive and inartful repetition, but the song is still very un-PC.

You can't leave out "Dinah-Moe-Hum" if you mention Zappa.
"She stroll on over, say look here, bum, I got a forty dollar bill say you canít make me cum."

"Waving My Dick In The Wind" by Ween

"It's A Pose" by Nellie McKay (great man-hating song...is that non-PC?)
"Mr. copulatin' populatin' masturbatin' denigratin' Birth of a Nation instigatin' violator of my escape..."

Let us not forget the ouevre of the late, great Hasil Adkins.

"Rock and Roll Nigger" is pretty non-PC. Well, the title is, anyway.

And "Pink Thing" by XTC, though perhaps it's too whimsical to qualify.

Well it depends what you mean by PC. Do you mean the original 60s term that liberal college kids used to stay on top of politics? Or do you mean the modern version, which can become racist in its own way?

Well, since Zappa's been mentioned. Alice Cooper has some pretty un PC albums.

Butthole Surfer's "Kuntz" is a un PC song. Lots of their stuff is.

For Dead Kennedy's non PC I'd add "Police Truck" and "Too Drunk To Fuck". For anti-establishment, "California Uber Alles" and "MTV-Get Off The Air."

Anti-establishment as well?

How 'bout "Fuck The System" by The Exploited? Or just pick any track from the album of the same title like "Never Sell Out" and "Violent Society".

Or "Salvador" by The Insanes.

Pick a track off of Rage Against the Machine's self titled first album. "Know Your Enemy" -- "Bullet In The Head". But, by the first definition, this album's politically correct because the politics ARE correct. Not the bullshit you normally hear about. But according to the new white washed PC, where you shouldn't call a black person black, or an indian an indian, as if there was something wrong with being black or indian. That's fucking ridiculous. It strikes me that it's often the racist people who are careful with PC terminology. Afraid they might get found out.

Nevermore's a good American metal band that's all anti-corporate, anti-establishment. Have you heard them?

There's more, of course, if I think about it.

Bill Callaghan has a song called "Be Hit" that treads a fine line... the chorus runs:

Every woman I've ever loved wanted to be hit
And every woman I've ever loved, left me cos i would't do it...
Got some advice for you friends...
B-B-Bruise 'em, you'll never lose 'em...

I like the song and interpret the lyrics as being ironic, but i shudder to think that there's some big thug out there singing along thinking "yeah man... chicks do want to be hit!"

Another song... not so much one that i like... but I remember when I was a kid my parents owned a calypso record and the chorus to one of the songs was "when woman say no, she mean yes"...um... i don't think they'd get away with that now...

That reminds me of thr Bill Hick's song, "Chicks Dig Jerks", which is appropriate for this thread. Sad thing is, there's some truth to that.

Speaking of a guy who was at times non PC and anti-establishment. And very frusterated, to say the least....

Previously mentioned on the thread. A little shout out to the late Bill Hicks. Very nice.

Oh, man....

Oh, Hitler had Eva Braun,
Manson had his Squeaky Fromm,
Ted Bundy got lots of dates,
I wonder what I'm doing wrong

I don't pretend to understand Women's little quirks
Just one thing I know for sure
Chicks dig jerks, Yeah...

Well, if I meet one more single mom whose true love has up and gone
Tells me on her trailer porch 'bout that man, still carries a torch
Sure, he came home drunk each night, beat the kids and her in a fight
But, man, she loves him so!
It's so hard to let him go, Oh...

Well, I don't pretend to understand Women's little quirks
Just one thing I know for sure
Chicks dig jerks

Well, I'm sure there's some out there can relate - Take the young man without a date
See some jerk, with some fine fine babe go driving away, Oh...

Well, is that a new bruise you've got on you?
What does it say, that he loves you?
Sure he beat you, but afterwards he cries "Oh, baby, I could die!"
Honey, I don't think that's nothing to be proud of,
I think it's called alcoholism
I don't think you should move away
Stay with him 'til you're in your grave, Yeah...

(Narrated in faux women's voice)

"You're so sweet!"
"Can't we just be friends?"
"I think of you as a brother."
Oh, man...

Ow! Ow! You're hurting me.
Ow! Ow!

What do I have to offer you, baby?
Poetry and true love
That's not enough, I know for sure
You need someone to throw you through the door

Well, I don't pretend to understand Women's little quirks
Just one thing I know for sure
Chicks dig jerks, Yeah...

Chicks dig jerks, so true

Tell you man, be mean to her man, they'll never leave you
Cause chicks dig jerks
Just ignore them!
Act like they're not there!
Man, you're going to be pulling chicks out of your hair
They love that
Act like you don't care
Ow, look at them, everywhere, they come running

Tired of being a good guy, it's such a lonely life
I'm gonna be a jerk! Yeah
That's right I'm gonna step on lots of toes.
Girls gonna go crazy for that guy!
Baby, I'm gonna act like I don't even know you
I'm not gonna return one of your calls
No, I hear her, she's already at the door, man, she's intrigued by my indifference

I'm a jerk, and it's working out

Haha

"Louie Louie" is offensive enough to be forbidden. But see Eric Nuzum's "Parental Advisory: Music Censorship in America" for a great list.

how about frenzal rhomb's '60, beautiful and mine'

goes like this:

'And I know I'm first in line because she's 60 and she's beautiful and she's mine/Well I was sick of the girls and I was sick of the game/And I know alzheimer's is a goddamn shame/But I still think it's cute when she forgets her name'

at the end of the song it goes

'And now I know that she'll always be there/coz I gaffa taped her to the rocking chair/and I don't care what people saw/we're gonna do it our own way/Even if the corpsey smell can put me off sometimes'

such a fun little punk band.

I can never remember who cut "Sex with the Dead."

Rammstein is an interesting case - they get razzed as Nazis not even so much for what they say as for things like rolling their "r"'s.
Their song "Links 2 3 4" is sort of a rebuttal, not PC, not un-PC -
"You want my heart to be in the 'right' place
but when I look down I plainly see
my heart beats on the LEFT side of the chest"

Threadjacking question: Billy Corgan - is it just me, or is he A Tool?

I saw the Pumpkins on the Siamese Dream tour and Corgan was an absolute 180-proof a**hole, chiding the crowd for not being enthusiastic enough, being too cool to applaud, etc. I wanted to bottle the little goofball.
