Hi Lucius, I haven't been around for awhile and just thought I'd say hello. Just picked up COL Rutherfords Colt, can't wait to get started on it.

In Asimov´s forum Sheila Williams writes that she have not in inventory the story called "THE 93RD IMMACULATE", nor any other story from you.
She writes that maybe you are now writing this story for her.

Hey LUCIUS: You ever thought of asking Charles Ardai over at HardCase Crime Fiction if he'd be interested in publishing FLOATER (or, perhaps, a collection of your hard-boiled stories, like "Sports in America," "Sparring Partner," etc.)? In addition to reprints of old classics by Westlake and others, they publish original stuff (David Schow and Christina Faust just published a book each via that line -- and Stephen King did so a couple of years ago). They've got a site on the internet and Charles is easy to reach via the email link.

Just wondering because I know FLOATER wasn't readily available in most bookstores on your side of the world when it came out -- it seems like a natural for Ardai's hard-boiled (but not always formulatic) line of paperbacks.

Vacancy and Ariel published by Subterranean in the Ace Double tradition look cool too. Still looking forward to the Vance tribute too. Thought it was coming out sooner though.
Subterranean does a good job with their books. As opposed to some other laughable publishers i.e. Wildside Press.

Dorian, I don't know about that line. Don't know how to go a bout submitting it.

I'm just finishing the signature pages for the Vance, but maybe the non-signed will be out soooner.

Hey Lucius,

At my age, I'm happy to take the Dorian moniker as a compliment. If your email is still the same, you should be getting all the info needed as soon as you logon. If you don't get a message from me, just say so and we can swap email info here (or whereever) so that the message (and info) gets through.

I sent a note on to Charles already -- we got to know each other when I did some write-ups on his line as it was starting out.

Cheers,
Dorman

No reason fans can't email Hardcase and suggest authors, either.

Subterranean put "Sylgarmo's Proclamation" on the web today. Midway through I got severe deja-vu, as if someone had managed to dig up some lost Vance story from a late 60s F&SF I'd forgotten I'd read. Terrific, down to the subtlest levels of tone. One of many moments: “Very well. On the count of three, may I suggest you join me in rendering with brio, ‘At Yando’s Whim, So We Ascend In Gladness’.” :-)

Lucius: Any chance that you will be at Readercon next month? I couldn't go last year so I missed you then, but I was hoping you would put in another appearance (even if not as GOH). - Alan

The folks at PS have posted the "Viator Plus" copy on their site.
Quote:
"Lucius Shepard lives in Portland, Oregon, but that is liable to change. Forthcoming are a new collection, Five Autobiographies, a novella, The Taborin Scale, and the novels Beautiful Blood and The End of Life as We Know It..."
Unquote.
Details, please.

Five Auobiograpies is a collection of four or five novellas from Golden Griffin, and will include DogEared Paperback of My Life,Halloween Town, Tibetan Blues, Extrasand perhaps one other. If it only has four novellas, it will be called 4 Autobios,,,

The Taborin Scale and Beautiful Blood are Griaule stories from Sub Press, one a novella, one a short novel. The End of Life is a slipstream novel I'm working on...

Also two stories next ear, the Skinny Girl and The Flock in Datlow anthos, The Beastly Bride and one other, as well as other stuff...

Lucius, I noticed (or at least I think I did) both Subterranean and PS Publishing have Viator Plus on their coming soon lists. Assuming I got that right, are they going to have the same contents? Any other cool stuff on the horizon?

Hey, Mike....Viator plus is a PS book. Don't know what Sub press is on about, I do have a dragon Griaule novella out from them in Feb, and a dragon novel I'm finishing for them, and another collection due out in late 2010 from Golden Gryphon called Five Autobiographies. I'm working on other stuff.

I think I probably confused matters a little, it looks like Subterranean is just carrying the PS book here:

http://www.subterraneanpress.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=SP &Product_Code=shepard06

I had no idea they sold any other company's books, so anyway apologies for the confusion. Thanks for the update, look forward to it all.
