After reading Alan DeNiro's essay on FM, I'm just wondering if there really is going to be a Next Wave or a Next anything. It seems like what we have is the ultimate Renaissance--a Golden Age of Fragmentation with an amazing number of writers doing great work, but not in any way connected or riffing off of each other. This seems like a good thing. Survival by never being classified. Mutating by never standing still.
