Questionable music is acceptable when it's by outsiders like Daniel Johnston or Simon Finn or Skip Spence or the Shaggs.

But what if you really do like the Archies? Or Marc Bolan when his people were hair and had clouds in their hair (and now they're content to wear stars on their brow)?

My Bad Song Playlist for the week: The Cowsills' "The Rain, The Park and Everything," T-Rex's "I Was Born to Be Her Unicorn," Friend & Lover's "Reach Out in the Darkness."

Share. We'll still respect you.

I got nothing as bad as the Cowsills, but I have a fondness for Talk-Talk's It's My Life....

Is that a cover of the old Animal's song?

"Sky Pilot" treads that fine line between awful and not.

Naw, that's original, their one hit before the band changed and actually got interesting,

Yeah, Sky Pilot and DOwn in Monterrey have that snake-giving-birth fascination...

Down in Monterey is pretty awful. If you're going to San Francisco, be sure and wear some brains inside your head.

Down in Montery was the nadir. Burdon should never have split with Chas Chandler.
