Tim,
I really enjoyed DESOLATION! We got a review copy from Leisure (for Talebones) and since I had read and enjoyed FACE, I picked this one out of the bunch they sent to read first.
Cain is a great character (such a complicated psyche!), and the book is filled with such lovely, poetic writing--I could just melt into it. I loved how you managed to keep the story tight and intriguing while treating me to such lucious details. Well done. I look forward to more from you.

Thanks Honna! I'm getting some great feedback for this novel - which I think is one of my best - as well as some more tepid reviews from people who can't see the 'horror' in it. For me it's just the book I wanted to write at the time ... it's weird, surreal and intriguing (I like to think so, anyway). Thanks for your nice comments.

Hi!
Forgot to check your response until now. Regarding those "tepid reviews" re: not seeing the horror in it. . .well I can honestly say I rarely find a book that chills me or creeps me out in a good way. The outright horror Leisure often prints seldom reaches me in that place of both chills and thrills. In DESOLATION, there's a moment when Cain is looking through the Whistler's rooms and you're describing the woman in the chair. Holy shit. No hacked off limbs or blood splattering everywhere, just a quietly horrifying observation that really got to me. Well done.
On another note, we just received (for Talebones) a copy of DUSK. I'm just a few pages in and already digging it. Best of luck with this one!
Honna
