Michael Swanwick has come up with a very simple statement, and he is asking individual SFWA folks if they want to sign on. It'll be posted on his website, and he'll send a letter to Locus Online and another to the Forum about it shortly.
Here it is:
We, as independent members of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA), despite the official neutrality of our leadership, hereby register our opposition to the impending invasion of Iraq. Some of us are opposed because it is a violation of international law. Some are opposed because it is contrary to the ideals that America strives to uphold. Some think this war is simply wrong. We all call on those in power to prevent it.
If you want to put your name on the list, let Michael know. If you know of anybody else who'd like to add their names, let them know.
They can email him at email@example.com (the address that will be used in the public statement, to keep spam to a minimum), and if their stated name matches the email address in the Directory, they'll be added to the list. I've already signed on.
