Jonathan Carroll often sends me terrific videos and urls that he finds on the web. I'll post the ones I like best here. Anyone else can post their own favorites.

A condom ad--the claim is that it was banned but I find no evidence of this (nor where it would have aired). But check it out anyway:

OK. You know that giant pig that was all the rage last week and all over the news? Well, surprise surprise it was all baloney! (I had a feeling. It just didn't look like a real photo):

Looks like the not so giant pig was really really big, but poor Fred was not wild at all, but was raised on a farm and then sold for the "hunt" when his owner decided to get rid of all the pigs on his farm.

Poor Fred. He needed a friend like Charlotte...

I'm reposting this here so I can dump the other thread: (posted March 27th, 2007

I just read a piece by Nicholas Kristoff on the op ed page of the NY Times (you can't access it online unless you have Times Select) but it's about the Kiva organization, which partners with one of the microfinance institutions from around the world. You can lend money in increments of $25 to many different people who are trying to create businesses around the world. It's a LOAN. You get your $25 back (even if I don't it will be worth it).
Please check out the site and consider loaning a bit of money out.

http://www.kiva.org/app.php
We let you loan to the working poor
Kiva lets you connect with and loan money to unique small businesses in the developing world. By choosing a business on Kiva.org, you can "sponsor a business" and help the world's working poor make great strides towards economic independence. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive email journal updates from the business you've sponsored. As loans are repaid, you get your loan money back.

We partner with organizations all over the world

Kiva partners with existing microfinance institutions. In doing so, we gain access to outstanding entrepreneurs from impoverished communities world-wide. Our partners are experts in choosing qualified borrowers. That said, they are usually short on funds. Through Kiva.org, our partners upload their borrower profiles directly to the site so you can lend to them.

We show you where your money goes

Kiva provides a data-rich, transparent lending platform for the poor. We are constantly working to make the system more transparent to show how money flows throughout the entire cycle. The below diagram shows briefly how money gets from you to a third-world borrower, and back!

An update: The four loans I've made are in the process of being repaid. As soon as any one is, I'll re-donate to someone else.

LOL! I'm listening to "Oklahoma", and just as I clicked on the kitten video, "The Surrey With The Fringe On Top" got to the part about "I can...feel a sleepy head near my shoulder..."
