The Sheckley World News for June 14, 2005

Bob Sheckley's spirits and strength continue to improve. He is, in fact, filling up the hospital room with ink scrawled (Pentel V-7) notebooks, unread novels, and gazillions of cans of Ensure.

It seems as though he may even be released in the very near future, and here is where YOU might be able to help.

Does anyone in or around Manhattan have or know of an accessible room where Mr. S. might park himself for about 2 weeks to rest up a little and get his general strength back? This may be necessary as preparation for any future medical treatments. It would also be a heckuvalot more interesting than traipsing around hospital corridors.

Bob could return to his little apartment upstate in Red Hook, but it is up a rickety staircase, not air-conditioned, and two and half hours away from the city and his medical team.

Accommodations don't need to be of the luxury kind, just comfortable and not up huge flights of stairs.

If you have any leads, please drop me a note at Editor@Dinosaur.Org .

Other Cards and Letters can still be sent to:

If you want to visit him at Mount Sinai hospital or call him on the phone, get in touch with me, and I'll give you directions and other necessary information on how to fit in with the hospital's various schedules.

If you know of someone who would like to be directly copied on these intermittent mailings, please send me their e-mail address and I'll include them in the bcc list.

Meanwhile, hang by your thumbs and write if you get work.

All best to all, (not a palindrome even though it superficially resembles one)
