Some will tell you this is a very valuable prize package!
Rare sought after editions (I’m told), particularly the Dagon. I happen to have two of these Dagons and offering one of them as a prize.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
*Prize No. 1*
‘Best of DF Lewis’ (Tal Publications) 1993
‘The Weirdmonger’s Tales’ by DF Lewis (Wyrd Press) 1994
‘Dagon’ Magazine #26 -- the DF Lewis Special edition from October 1989

And the winner of this prize package will eventually also receive a copy of the Prime book when it is published as a retrospective of my work. All to be signed by me to the winner, if they want me to do so!

The competition for this prize, judged solely at my discretion:

Nemonymous Part Three contains 21 stories by as yet unnamed authors. Two of the stories are by the same person (a fact I hadn’t realised before I accepted them, which is understandable bearing in mind my editorial methods!)

All stories were written independently and were designed by their authors to stand alone. However, the stories have been grouped by me to be read from beginning to end in the order they are printed, as a gestalt experience. Some stories resonate with each other etc. and there is an overall theme as well as sub themes. A bit like a symphony.

I am asking you to write a short critique of Nemonymous~3 (say 400 to 500 words or less) bringing out your own perceptions of the themes of the stories etc. and sending it to nemonymous@hotmail.com

I may post some or all of them from time to time here on Veils&Piques and on the Nemonymous Message Board:
http://www.nightshadebooks.com/cgi-bin/discus/discus.cgi
with your name attached. Authors in Nemonymous Part Three are also invited to enter this competition.

My decision as to the best critique and the competition’s finishing date is final.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
*Prize No 2*
A copy of ‘Swords and Ice Magic’ by Fritz Leiber – *signed by its author*.

The winner will be the first one to post on on the 'DF Lewis' Board (Nemonymous thread) at:
http://www.nightshadebooks.com/cgi-bin/discus/discus.cgi
the titles of the two stories in Nemonymous Three that you think are written by the same author.
Will the author in question please refrain from entering!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
*Prize No 3*
A copy of ‘Non Stop’ by Brian Aldiss – *signed by its author*.

One of the stories in Nemonymous Three is the first publication of its author which isn’t non-fiction as the the author is someone who has been published before in a particular non-fiction field. The winner will be the first to post on the 'DF Lewis' Dusk Board ('Nemonymous' thread) at:
http://www.dusksite.ukgo.com/discus/messages/14/14.html?1036858539
the title of the story in question and to name which particular non-fiction field.
Will the author in question please refrain from entering! I *think* there is only one author who fits this description!

My decision as to the winner (i.e. whether the answer to the non-fiction field is near enough or whatever) and the competition’s finishing date is final.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I know hardly any of you have yet received a copy of Nemonymous Part Three. So these competitions will probably start on a long slow fuse.

For later identity verification purposes, when you post your entries for prizes 2 or 3, please also join (if you are not already a member) the Nemonymous announcement service at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/veils_and_piques/
and post with your entry the first 5 letters of the email address that you're using there. Otherwise your entry will unfortunately not be able to be considered. Des

Another prize (a signed copy of 'The Broken Sword' by Poul Anderson) and Taking Stock...

The four day break at Easter seems a good time to take stock. Many copies of Nemonymous~3 have now been shipped out to customers, contributors and reviewers. Very little feedback yet, because the recipients are simply stunned speechless or quite underwhelmed --- or just indifferent or busy still reading it or too busy to read it at all!

I am pleased to report that there remains a lot of interest in Nemonymous ~1 and ~2 –- and indeed there is now a `reverse' subscription special offer in existence for all three Nemonymi.
Please enquire for details at nemonymous@hotmail.com

For ease of reference I have included all stories so far published and listings of their denemonised authors at:
http://www.tinyurl.com/9hyc

I shall start reading submissions for Nemonymous~4 as soon as growth prospects for future sales of all three parts of Nemonymous are firmly established. I remain hopeful that the publishing schedule of once a year is maintained.

I include below as an Appendix a reminder of the current prize competitions. Relevant to this, there has been a debate recently at a message board on:
http://www.ttapress.com/discus/
about the female voice in fiction under the `Women Writers and the TTA' sub-thread ('TTA Press Magazines' main thread).
With 21 brand new stories in Nemonymous~3 (as yet undenemonised), I thought a very valuable (or at least, interesting) experiment would entail readers judging which are by female writers and which by male. I offer an author-signed copy of `The Broken Sword' by Poul Anderson as a prize to the one who first gets the right answer -- or who comes nearest before I announce the end of the competition some time in the future. The exact same rules apply as to the separate competition below relating to choosing the two stories in Nemonymous~3 written by the same author.

Best wishes, Des

Please see 'simplified competitions' thread on:
http://tinyurl.com/bzdp
which overrides the ludicrously complicated rules above!
I've now sacked my Competition setter as well as my Marketing Manager! Who's next?

Des, seems no one wants to win a copy of Nemo #4--maybe I made the question too hard. You should enter yourself (anonymously of course ;))

I've changed the Weirdmonger page a bit too. Will add the second story in October.

Neil --
Hey! I didn't enter because I already have it. Hm, should I let it stop me? And no, the question is not hard. Oh, and I linked you.

Thanks, Neil. Few want Nemo~4. Or they don't know they want it. And, if they saw it, felt it, even read it, they'd know why they earlier didn't know what they were missing. Seriously.
