I've been told about this site elsewhere:

http://bookblog.net/gender/genie.html

"Inspired by an article in The New York Times Magazine, the Gender Genie uses a simplified version of an algorithm developed by Moshe Koppel, Bar-Ilan University in Israel, and Shlomo Argamon, Illinois Institute of Technology, to predict the gender of an author."

I put one of my stories (randomly chosen) into it with this result:

Female Score: 1151
Male Score: 1204
The Gender Genie thinks the author of this passage is: male!

So, it was right. It's supposed to get it right 80% of the time, it says.

Perhaps I should input all the Nemonymous submissions for issue ~5 so as to obtain a good gender spread?!
