What fiction books have you read which surprised you as being far better than you would have expected e.g. you've never enjoyed a certain writer before or subject-matter or genre etc. and it turned out to be worth reading or you very nearly missed out on a masterpiece through hasty pre-judgement?

I'll have to give this one some thought, but I will say that most of the surprises I've gotten have unfortunately been at the opposite end of the spectrum.

The first eight people from whom I receive an email at
telling me that they have properly read all the first twelve parts of THE HAWLER from beginning to end (with a 100 word description of the plot to that point) will be eligible for a free Nemonymous Three or Nemonymous Four (whichever they choose).
I don't expect there'll be a rush. But hopefully it will be an enjoyable way to earn a sample Nemonymous.
But if it isn't enjoyable, you'll deserve the Nemonymous!
