Rick Klaw is conducting a two part interview with John Picacio over at SF Site. The first part went up with the mid-May edition. Picacio is a great talent.
If you are interested in checking out the interview, follow this url: http://www.sfsite.com/05b/jp152.htm

Best,

Jeff

I'll second the Picacio recommendation. We've worked with John on four books so far, and he's working on the jacket to Graham Joyce's The Stormwatcher for us now.

John's an amazing artist and designer, something that's all too rare these days.

Jason: He seems to get overlooked by the World Fantasy Judges, meanwhile, he's got some of the most exciting stuff out there. I hope that changes soon.

Best,

Jeff

I agree that John Picacio is brilliant. We're very fortunate to have some of his artwork at FM.

Best,
Luís

I was lucky enough to get an illustration by him for a story. I'm not usually wildly enthusiastic about magazine story illustration but this one was aces. And then he sent me a copy. I keep noticing illustrations that amaze me and more likely than not, they are by him. Thanks for the link, Jeff.

I got lucky with John, too, for an upcoming book. The man doesn't need a bowling trophy looks like an Easter Island statue to validate his brilliance.

Not to diss the World Fantasy Award -- they look really cool if you put little Hawiaan leis and sunglasses on them.

Lucius: It goes without saying that John is brilliant. But he's also building a career, and the lead head (for all but those who are above it all) is good PR sometimes.
Hey, I just scored that Eskimo movie you wrote about in F&SF where the guy runs naked across the arctic circle or something. Cost me a bundle at Barnes & Noble, but I'm going to check it out tonight.

Best,

Jeff

"The lead head is good PR sometimes..."

Hmmm. Can't say as I agree, but its no big deal...no big deal to John, either. He's already so busy, I hear he's turning down work. The career's in gear, apparently.

Anyhoo, I hople you like FAST RUNNER.

I'm sure glad John is producing the cover to my upcoming book. He always does good work. Hell, he even did my wedding invitation a few years back.

And of course he should be nominated for a World Fantasy Award.

Jeff, Thanks for the plug!

Wait till you all see the cover john did for my upcoming anthology, Live Without A Net. (Or if you can't wait, check it out on amazon). I thought it was one of his best pieces when he first showed it to me, but then, I've thought that about the ten or so paintings I've seen since then to.
