The organizers and jurors of the Fountain Award have announced this year's winner and short list:

Congratulations to Jeffrey Ford for winning with his "The Annals of Eelin-Ok" and congratulations to his editors, Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling, for publishing the winning story in The Faery Reel.

Another story from that book (Kelly Link's "The Faery Handbag") made the short list, as did a whole peck of very good stories written by very good writers and published in very good venues.

I'm bringing this up, natch, because of the mention David J. Schwartz received for his story "The Lethe Man," which we published in our fourth issue, Say...why aren't we crying?

But even without that, I'd be spreading the word about that short list--I think it's very strong.
