Wow! I just found out this morning that I've been nominated for the World Fantasy Award in the Best Artist category. Too good!! I just now saw the press release on the LOCUS website, so I guess it really is official.

An interesting morning....several days ago, I had heard I was "nominated" for the British Fantasy Award but this was NOT the case, as I found out that that was merely a RECOMMENDATION, not a nomination. So apologies for any confusion there.

So of course, when Lou Anders phoned me this morning to tell me that I was a World Fantasy Award nominee, I was a little dubious at first, but now that it's up on Locus' website, I guess it's true!!

Hey, Bob G. -- Thanks, man. Hope you're doing well over there. Hopefully I'll see you in Boston or Tempe later this year.

Richard -- Thanks very much! Hope you and your work doing well. Hopefully we'll catch up soon.

Sara -- Long time, no hear!! We'll catch up in Austin next week, I'm sure. It'll be good to see you. Thanks very much.

Hey, Robert -- Thank you so much. Stay in touch.

Ellen! You collect these major award nominations like baseball cards so this is all old hat to you. This is my first World Fantasy nom so it's all fresh and new over here. I'm excited about it. Heck -- come to think of it, you not only have the WF noms to look forward to, but you're WFC Editor GOH this year on top of that!! How good is that? Should be a great show. I'll see you soon!

John,
It's never old hat, believe me ! I'm very excited about the convention. I'm going to the Grand Canyon afterwards. Never been there.

See you in Boston.

Thanks, Matt. The Best Artist competition is very stiff this year....I'm up against Donato, John Jude, Brom, and then Jason V.H., who's already won a World Fantasy Award in 2000...so it's a heavy-duty year in that category...

I appreciate the love!

Love nothing. They'll break my legs, John.

On an unrelated front, I actually know Brom and Donato's work, and you definitely belong in that group. Believe me, everyone who's seen my book has commented to me about that cover.

Hey, John, it was lots of fun seeing you at ArmadilloCon again this year. Looking forward to seeing you in Tempe for World Fantasy in October. I hope you'll have much to celebrate at that con! If all goes well, I should have the family with me, so you'll get to see how big Levi has gotten.

Hey, Andy --

Good seeing you over there too. Looking forward to World Fantasy, but first there's WorldCon next week. I'm cranking hard on some deadlines I'm trying to hit before I leave.

We'll touch base soon!! Looking forward to seeing Levi in October.

Continued success with your touring for BRIDE.

Best,
John
