Just got the word (after some e-mail problems on both sides, apparently) that my second Wren & Sergei story will be appearing in the crossover mystery-in-sf/f anthology edited by Dana Stabenow, arriving from Ace Books in bookstores sometime in the Spring of 2005. Or sooner or later, depending on how their schedule goes.

Nice lineup, from what I've heard. Some guy named Caselberg's in it, too.

And I just sent off the e-text for my story "Apparent Horizon," which should appear in the October issue of Mars Dust.

It's a weird little piece about.. well, if I told you, you wouldn't need to read the story now, would you?

_Very_ short fiction sale -- a haiku series entitled "source matter" which will appear in _Tales from the Wonder Zones: Odyssey_ out this fall.

Oh dear. A published poet. My academic advisors would be so proud...

I am dain bread. There are ideas mulling (add spices, set to low heat, ignore for half an hour, then ladle into warmed mugs), but nothing's coming to the fore. Just waiting waiting waiting on the stuff that's out.

With luck, this is just post-delivery blues, and everything will come back soon. I hate not having a work-in-progress.

My story "Apparent Horizon" is up at MarsDust (although I'm told the formatting is still a little wonky and will be fixed soon).

Check it out at http://www.marsdust.com/tales.htm

Well, congratulations. And a damned fine story it is too.

Good on you. Highly rate this one. It's a subtle, moving story with an understated atmosphere and I appreciated the metaphorical underpinnings. So there you go.

I'm getting some very nice feedback on this one, which of course is badly needed right now. *wry smile* Interesting, though.. is it because it's on-line that the feedback mechanism is working? Are we really that trained to post and counterpost, where print-on-paper makes us lazy?

hrm...

In other news, got about 3,000 words done on a new story this weekend -- another dire SFnal The World Is Changing in Bad Ways story... with a happy ending. I swear, I can't help it!

Well, I thought Turnings was effective, too, so it's not just the online thing - but I've only just got that edition of ROF via a friend. Online is instantaneous, I suppose.

Been a long time since I posted in here, but there are updates to be made.

Two of the "Dragon Virus" stories will be appearing near you soon:

"In the Aftermath of Something Happening" will be in the June 2004 issue of Oceans of the Mind

"Dragons" will be in the July-September issue of ChiZine

And I've sold the rather dark urban fantasy "Talent" to Realms of Fantasy and "Serpent's Rock" to an as-of-yet-unnamed young adult anthology at Random House.

Just got the proofs and a cover flat for ReVisions, which contains my story "Site Fourteen." I'm third in the ToC, after Geoffrey Landis and Julie Czerneda. I'll take it.

The story's not too painfully bad, on re-reading (proofing is, to me, the worst torture in the world. I hate it all once it's set in type). So there may be hope for it.

Although my bio is now woefully out of date, despite my sending them an updated one months ago. Ah well....
