Just heard that Gardner's leaving Asimov's after 19 years! It seems to me that he's established himself as probably the best and most important editor in the history of the field, and he'll be sorely missed. Apparently he's to pursue his writing career, which is wonderful news, but his shoes are big ones to fill.
And looking at the bigger picture, with Gardner and Interzone's David Pringle moving on at pretty much the same time, that's a huge change in the short fiction field. These are interesting times indeed.
