Sean Wallace has bought Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling’s anthology Black Thorn, White Rose for reissue by Prime Books and Datlow’s Twists of the Tale for reissue by Wildside Press, with April and June trade paperback releases, respectively.

I'm very happy it's finally being reissued. It's always been one of my own favorite anthos and it got a raw deal at Abyss--it was orphaned about three times before the book came out and the line was killed off soon after.

The new Prime trade paperback edition of Black Thorn, White Rose can now be pre-ordered from amazon. The book is due April 1st. I'm not sure if the jacket art will be what is shown, although I hope it is.

and Twists of the Tale, the new trade paperback from Wildside, is due in May and can be
pre-ordered from amazon as well:

Should we purchase the reissues, the originals from you, or both?

(Assuming that you still have originals left for sale)

PM, It's entirely up to you. I don't have copies of Black Thorn, White Rose around (or if I do, not very many). As for Twists of the Tale, perhaps it depends on what cover you want and if you want it in trade pb or mass market.

But sales of the reissues will show the publisher that there's a market for the reissues and they'll do more :-).

Hello Ellen.

"But sales of the reissues will show the publisher that there's a market for the reissues and they'll do more :-)"

That would be very welcome. I really liked the fairy tale series but I missed out on Black Swan, White Raven & Silver Birch, Blood Moon, and a lot of secondhand copies I've seen have been kind of pricey for my meagre budget.

I'm glad that the reissues are trades rather than the mass market pbs...and are reasonably priced.

Alan,
All except Snow White, Blood Red are being reissued by Prime, so you should be able to get them in your hands within this year....
Although I think I have copies of Black Swan, White Raven and Silver Birch, Blood Moon in trade pb if you 're interested in buying them sooner. Just let me know and I'll check when I get home from Florida Sunday.

Hi Ellen. Before you check to see if you have copies of the books, I should let you know that I don't have an active PayPal account. I'm not sure if/how that complicates things r.e. payment...?

UK cheques? That's why I wondered if the lack of a PayPal account might be an issue...But if UK cheques are ok, problem solved.

No, I'm afraid a UK check wouldn't work. PM, I think there is a small fee for paypal in that form--I was charged something when Bronwyn paid me...I'd add that to the cost, but it was pretty small. If that's ok with you Alan?

That's my problem, PM - I do have a PayPal account, but I have't used it is quite a while, and I can't remember my password. The email PayPal are supposed to have sent me so I can retrieve my password never arrived (I've made the request via their website 7 or 8 times), and it isn't information I can get over the phone. So basically I might as well not have a PayPal account.

It's bugging the hell out me - I never forget passwords!

Alan,
I found pristine copies of Siver Birch, Blood Moon and Black Swan, White Raven in trade paperback. I assume you'd want snail mail rather than airmail? In any case why don't you email me at datlow@yahoo.com and we can take this offline :-)

It doesn't look like it. The only way to do that is to close my existing account, which I can only do by logging in, which I can't do without my password...

(Btw Ellen, I just emailed you.)

Alan, I would think paypal would really want your biz...Look, if I could get back into my corporate GE website account (with the help of telephone support) after no longer working there for over a year you can get back on paypal :-)

As in your case I couldn't remember my password. But worse, I couldn't remember my stupid "challenge questions" --this time I wrote them down.

If I'm reading the fee schedule correctly it would be 3.9% +.30 USD to send money from the UK to Ellen.

Ellen, I don't know, maybe because I'd only used the account twice they figured they could do without me...:-)

PM, that's the number I called, but they just told me to do what I'd already done without any success...

Is the spam filter for your email catching the emails that Paypal is sending to you?

I note that Black Thorn, White Rose is still not available.

I also note that Ben Peek's Black Sheep is likewise unavailable.

Both are from the same publisher/publishing group and are both past due.
