I'm gonna be taking a long break from the board. Got too much work to do, have to go back down to Honduras at some point, and etc. Be back for football season. Bob will post my reviews, and that's about it....

Uh, what Marc said.

I should probably do the same as Lucius. I can't believe how far behind I am in my reading for a job that I've had for only a month.

See you when camp opens, Lucius. (And the post-draft cameo appearance, of course :-))

Ack! Me, too. Unless Pitt makes it to the Final Four, I guess I'll be off Being a Good Little Publisher and Whatever Else.

But I wouldn't want to let anyone down, so I will report on the Blue-Gold game at the end of spring practice.

:-)

Good bye, Lucius, enjoy your time away! I've been mostly absent from these boards for precisely that reason. Too much work and not enough time to get it done. Almost makes me hate the internet . . .

That's great, Lucius. I might be able to go to Nantes this year, though I'm helping organize a convention in Lisbon around that time as well, so I can't promise anything yet.

Best,
Luís

Ciao, Lucius. It's been real. Seriously, can't wait for this fall to talk pigskin again.

But like Minz said, I;ll do a cameo at the draft.

"How can I miss you if you won't go away?"

You got my mail if you need it.

Hey, you should get those folks in Honduras hooked up with Everquest/World of Warcraft accounts. They can sit around and level up characters and sell them for more than they're making doing that dangerous diving they do with shitty equipment.

I have not to bury Lucius Shepard, but to praise him.

In time, I am sure you will all come to view me as a wise, benevolent dictator, who is cruel but fair, who refuses to spare the rod in the pursuit of that most precious of goals: order!

Now, let a hundred flowers bloom!

SO to totally thread jack, if I were commissioner of Major League Baseball for a day, I would . . .

Suspend Barry Bonds for life. (Fat-headed, steroid-popping dickhead damn well doesn't deserve a chance to pass Babe Ruth, much less Hammerin Hank.)

Suspend George Steinbrenner for life.

Move the Red Sox to Milwaukee (hey it worked for the Braves) :-)

I'm assuming Lucius is already gone, or I wouldn't dare bring up baseball.

Selig would actually be put to work scrubbing the walls of the men's restrooms at Soldier Field...with his tongue. (For those who've never been--they used the old trough-in-the-floor-along-the-wall method at Soldier Field.)

Of course, the real truth is that
MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL SHOULD DIE,
but I digress.

Puh-LEASE. As if most folks in the world give a rat's ass about the Red Sox. I would bet there are at least twenty times as many fans that HATE the Yankees than like Bosox.

MLB should die as a a warning to the other real sports. It should die because it's drug policy is still a joke, and that some real milestones are gonna fall to hopped up cheaters (this from a league that prides itself on tradition, and is measured by numbers). It should die because it long ago abandoned its fans. It should die because some friggin piece o' crap player hitting .220 can go to arbitration and get 4 million per year in salary, but a family of four couldn't possibly attend a game for under $100 (with a 162-game schedule, the gouging of the fans is appalling). Say it with me:

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL MUST DIE!!!

Dump "baseball" and insert "sports" and you might actually have something there, Minz...
